Church Redevelopment Project

In early 2006 Long Hanborough Methodist Church invited observation and comment from its members on the problems with and opportunities for developing the existing church building.

It was recognised that the existing building in its present state did not meet the requirements of 21st century standards and was not suitable for meeting our present needs.

One strong theme continually emerged - a desire to open up our church both physically and spiritually to the wider community.

It was decided that a design consultant was needed to complete a Preliminary Feasibility Study so that we could gauge the opportunity for, and nature of, any development, the likely risks, the planning considerations and the likely cost.

This having been done we have now appointed an architect to draw up some plans for us to consider.

Plans were drawn up and submitted to the Council. The Council have turned them down and so they have gone to appeal. We await the result of the appeal.

Unfortunately we have just heard that the appeal has also been turned down so a meeting is to be held to decide what to do next.

New plans have been drawn up on a reduced scale, hopefully these will be accepted.
